Bacolod City Council approved the extension of the Business One-stop-shop (Boss) and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 28, 2019.

The extension was approved through an ordinance during the regular session Wednesday.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of the City Council committee on laws, said yesterday the extension of the Boss was requested by Mayor Evelio Leonardia after he received a letter from Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) asking him for the extension of the filing of permits and deadline of the first quarter payment of business tax.

The mayor then endorsed the request to the City Council, being the body which can allow the said extension.

Distrito said from January 20 to February 28, the business owners who are processing their business permits, for renewal, will not be charged of 25 percent surcharge or penalties.

“In order to assist our taxpayers and businessmen, we extend the Boss and deadline of payment so that they will not be charged of 25 percent surcharge,” he said.

The Boss, which supposed to end on January 20, includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Environment and Natural Resources, and the barangays.

The Boss aims to provide convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers.

From January 3 to 8, the Permits and Licensing Division already registered a total of 6, 281 business establishments.

In 2018, Bacolod registered a total of 23, 187 business establishments or with an increase of 5.33 percent compared to 22, 044 establishments registered in 2017.*
