P530K in drugs seized

AN estimated P530,000 worth of illegal drugs was seized in separate buy-bust operations in Negros Occidental on January 10.

Police identified the suspects as Amir Ahmad Ali, 39; and Edwin Ledesma, 48, both residents of Barangay 3.

Police recovered from their possessions 12 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P500,000, the P500 marked money, P750 in cash, and a cellular phone.

Both suspects are identified as members of Beria Drug Group, police records showed.

Senior Inspector Marc Joeil Reclamado, team leader of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), said they’ve been monitoring Ali, who is the target subject of the operation, for one week.

Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2 for the filing of drug charges.

Also arrested in Barangay Handumanan in this city on Thursday was Christian Puerto, the 10th top drug personality of Police Station 10.

Police seized from him several sachets of suspected shabu worth P15,000, and the P500 marked money.

In Bago City, Ian Agustin, 40, of Barangay Binubuhan was arrested in the said village on the same day. He is a newly-identified drug personality.

Authorities confiscated from him seven sachets of suspected shabu worth P15,000, cellular phone, the P200 marked money, P270 in cash, and bag.*
