VMA to celebrate 46th anniversary
THE VMA Global College Training Center in Bacolod City is marking its 46th founding anniversary mainly to honor former and present administrations who have made a significant contribution in the advancement of the institution.
The center, in a press release, said there will be a contemporary art workshop and exhibit of local artist Roberto Gregory Berondo on February 26.
Berondo is known for on his art odyssey contemporary cubism. His canvass will be displayed in the facade of the library.
On the same day, there will be a praise and worship activity to be followed by The Pinasahi Dance Festival and fireworks.
On February 27, maritime skills Olympics will be conducted. This will be highlighted by activities like line throwing, donning of fireman’s outfit, tug of war, flag signaling, DWK Quiz bee, Buson’s chair rigging relay, monkey fist making, mooring lines securing on the bits, circuits construction, engineering drawing skills and amazing race, among others.
In keeping the college’s advocacy to professionally equip the students for the global opportunities in hospitality and tourism industry, the hospitality and tourism managers will hold a convention at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City on the same day.
There will be a Nihonggo Fiesta Show starting 3 p.m. onwards to be followed by the Poseidon Dance On-site and foam party, respectively.
On the third day, there will be a high school skills Olympic with various activities like character impersonation, verse choir, amazing race, historical attractions exhibit, science exhibit, market fair and live band.
Also, the Business Technology Department will showcase the students’ best in terms of hospitality management by conducting activities like waiters’ relay, dessert flambe, themed table set – up, chef’s war, fruit and vegetable carving, bartending, on- the-spot table napkin folding, and market-market.
Other activities include alumni homecoming and zumba night with disc jockey, the press release said.
This year’s celebration is themed “Exploring New Frontiers with Asian Partnership for Global Opportunities.”
