Manila Fame 2019 to honor Filipino design excellence
MANILA Fame, the country’s preeminent lifestyle and design trade event, will honor the legacy of Filipino design excellence featured in its past 68 editions.
The show is slated on April 25 up to 27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
“We are going to highlight the best of Manila Fame products featured over the years through the Design Commune special setting. As part of our product development program, these products will be re-imagined to reflect contemporary design concepts,” said Pauline Suaco-juan, executive director of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem.)
Citem is the marketing arm of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Now on its fourth run, the Design Commune serves both as an exhibit venue within Manila Fame and as a merchandise development program that nurtures a community of designers and their collaboration with manufacturers. The program aims to produce a constant output of welldesigned products that meet the demand of the international market.
The theme for this year’s product development initiatve is “Heritage Re-imagined,” a presentation of Manila Fame’s legacy of design excellence.
The trade show has been positioned over the years as a celebration of exquisite craftsmanship, mastery over sustainable materials and world-renowned quality that catapulted the careers of Filipino product designers to the global scene.
This led to the idea of highlighting products from its past editions while adding a new flare that gives a nostalgic yet exciting feel to the reimagined products.
An exciting new feature to watch out for in the upcoming edition is the fashion e-tailer, a special setting dedicated to emerging fashion entrepreneurs and designer brands in the e-commerce space.
Moreover, the April edition will once again spearhead community empowerment advocacies, such as the Artisans Village and the The Gender Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation (Great) Women Project.
The Artisans Village is an avenue for local micro, small and medium enterprises to introduce their regional crafts to the global market while The Great Women Project aims to assist women entrepreneurs toward economic empowerment.
To further elevate the sourcing experience of visiting buyers, business convergence areas and a modern concept cocktail bar will also be in place in the upcoming edition./ PR
