Rojas to IPM-CDC: Penalize erring garbage collectors

-

BACOLOD City Councilor Cindy Rojas urged the city’s garbage hauler Ipm-construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) to impose penalty to their garbage collectors who are asking or soliciting money from household owners in the city.

Rojas, chairperson of the City Council committee on environment and ecology, said yesterday she received a complaint from a resident of Eroreco Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan that the garbage collectors of IPM-CDC are allegedly soliciting money from household owners.

“I immediately called the attention of the IPMCDC and they assured us that they will conduct

their own investigation,’ she said.

She added it’s not the first time that it happened. In previous months, the City Council also received the same complaints against the garbage collectors of IPM-CDC.

Rojas noted that during their previous meeting with the IPM-CDC, she reiterated her reminder to discipline their garbage collectors not to ask money from household owners.

“If the household owner will offer something for them so it’s okay, but to ask money from them (household owner) should not be tolerated,” Rojas said.

Rojas also received report that if the household owner fails to give money, the garbage collectors will not pick-up their garbage.

“It’s the responsibility of the garbage collectors to pick-up our garbage because they were also paid by the IPM-CDC. The city is paying tax payers money to them (IPM-CDC) so they should also deliver the proper services to our people,” Rojas said.

If the same incident will happen, Rojas said the resident should copy the garbage truck number, time and date and report it to the IPM-CDC or at the Bacolod Government Center.

She said she’s hopeful that the IPM-CDC will penalize their erring garbage collectors.

Daryl Abiol, project supervisor of IPM-CDC, earlier said that they are not authorizing their garbage collectors to make a solicitation or ask money from household owners.

He said they are constantly monitoring the performance of their garbage collectors and reminding them not to ask anything from the household owners.

“Just get the body number of the garbage truck and report it to us including the date and time or call us at our hotline 7075373. We are not tolerating them because this is one of our policies not to ask anything from the household owners,” Abiol added.

Abiol also urged the household owners not to give anything to the garbage collectors./map
