- BY MERLINDA A. PEDROSA

THE opposition group, “Asenso para sa Buas-damlag sang Bacolodnon-magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan (ABBMKK) will hold its miting de avance on May 8.

ABB-MKK mayoralty candidate Jocelle Batapasigue said yesterday they will hold its miting de avance on May 8 because it’s a lucky number and it’s her anniversary of being a lawyer.

She said they are still finalizing the venue which they already sent their letter to the city government if they could use the Bacolod public plaza on May 8.

“It’s really my wish list to hold it in Bacolod public plaza, we have officially sent letter requesting for that venue. We are keeping our fingers crossed so hopefully we can use it, but if not we are also exploring other venues,” she added.

ABB-MKK also invited the Abang-lingkod Partylist to join on their activity.

Batapa-sigue said this May 13 election is going to be different election from the last five elections ago.

“Right now, we have a singular chance for real change for Bacolod. We have a candidate who belongs to a different generation. For 15 years, we also waited for a candidate from the other gender which is the women sector. It’s going to be exciting because we might have a chance to have a woman mayor, we might have a chance to have next generation leader to pass on the torch from the older generation to the newer generation,” she said.

Batapa-sigue also encouraged the Bacolodnons to go out on May 13 and casts their votes.

“I’m encouraging everyone, who wants change and good governance, to be counted. Because it’s useless if we just all complain, we need to be enfranchised. If you don’t vote, you don’t become part of the exercise,” Batapa-sigue said.

She said that she’s also calling on all the people of Bacolod even the non-voters to start a prayer campaign for a clean and peaceful campaign on May 13.*
