Electoral board: VCM is accurate

“THE vote counting machine (VCM) is accurate.”

This was stressed by Arnel Adorias, chairman of the electoral board of clustered precinct 28 in Rizal Elementary School in Bacolod City, after they successful­ly held the final testing and sealing of VCM and Voter Registrati­on Verificati­on Machines (VRVM) in Rizal Elementary School.

The testing and sealing was supervised by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in various polling precincts in Bacolod.

Adorias said about 10 watchers joined the final testing and sealing of the machines and all of them were satisfied on how the VCM functioned.

“We followed the rules on how to operate it and it was witnessed by representa­tives from various political groups in Bacolod City and it was successful,” he said.

He added the 10 watchers tried to casts under and over votes and all their ballots were read correctly by the machines.

Adorias urged the voters to cooperate for peaceful elections on Monday.

Roniliza Swelto, a watcher of Grupo Progreso, said she witnessed on how the VCM operated and she’s satisfied on it.

“It’s accurate (VCM) and we are happy on it. We are hopeful that by Monday we will have peaceful and successful elections,” she said.

Grace Oberas, a watcher of Asenso para sa Buasdamlag sang Bacolodnon magbinulig­ay Kita sa Kauswagab (ABB-MKK), also said that she’s satisfied with

the VCM and it’s accurate.

She said they arrived in school at 8 a.m. and they witnessed on how the electoral board prepared the VCM.

“It read our ballots corserve rectly (VCM) and we do not have a problem on it. After the activity, the machines were sealed and locked,” she added.

Bacolod City has a total of 312, 816 voters with 353 clustered precincts and 45 voting centers.

Meanwhile, Acting Bacolod election registrar Ann Janette Lamban could not be reached for a comment as of press time./map
