Grupo Progreso to hold miting de avance today

THE Grupo Progreso will hold its miting de avance today at the Pope John Paul II Tower in Reclamatio­n Area in Bacolod City,

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said yesterday they will hold a mass at the Bacolod public plaza at 5 p.m. then, they will march towards the Pope John Paul II Tower in Reclamatio­n Area.

“This will be our grand rally and we expect thousands of supporters to join us,” he said.

He added their activity will be attended by the Grupo Progreso candidates led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Congressma­n Greg Gasataya.

Other members of Grupo Progreso are incumbent Councilors Cindy Rojas, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Elmer Sy, Renecito Novero, Ann Marie Palermo, former councilors Al Victor Espino, Jose Carlos Lopez, Archie Baribar, Simple Distrito, Israel Salanga, and Marlon Solidum.

“Let us thank the Lord for a very peaceful campaign period. Personally, I’ve done my part campaignin­g in various barangays. I’ve shared my intention to re-elect me as vice mayor of Bacolod as well as my group in Grupo Progreso. Thank you for the people of Bacolod for trusting us to

our city,” Familiaran said.

He said that after the campaign, he will rest and pray that the people will vote him again.

“Vote according to your conscience and weigh the accomplish­ments of the officials especially, the Grupo Progreso. Choose a better candidate on Monday’s elections, vote wisely,” he added.

Leonardia also earlier presented the Grupo Progreso platform of government, called Agenda for 2019-2022, before the Filipino-chinese businessme­n, leaders and families associatio­ns in Bacolod City.

Leonardia said it has been the practice of the Grupo Progreso during the campaigns to present to various groups and sectors a written program of priorities for the next three years.

“It contains the Agenda for Action that we will undertake. It is as well our contract and covenant with you. We came up with this from our consultati­ons with you, as well as from what we can personally see as the needs that must be met to build an even better Bacolod,” he said. He added the Grupo Progreso 3-point Agenda for Action are Accelerate Socio-economic Growth; Efficientl­y Deliver Basic Services; and Strengthen Local Governance.

The mayor explained that the heart of the Grupo Progreso mission is the economic as well as human developmen­t for Bacolod and its people.

“Aside from putting down on paper this GP Agenda, we have also signed and sealed it as a covenant with our people. This way, it will be easy for you to evaluate us and our work,” he said.

“No other political party in Bacolod can boast of doing so. Too many politician­s promise way too many things, even the fantastic and forget them after elections. Not so with Grupo Progreso. We do not simply promise. We sign a covenant and deliver what is written there,” the mayor stressed.

Leonardia also presented the city government’s direction in handling peace and order, traffic, drainage and flood control, solid waste management, and road network developmen­ts.

He also updated the businessme­n on the real estate developmen­t in Bacolod, enumeratin­g the list of new and upcoming residentia­l properties, subdivisio­ns, hotels, condominiu­ms, and malls being constructe­d by property giants, as well as the upcoming big projects of his administra­tion such as the Bacolod Masskara Coliseum, Bacolod Museum, developmen­t of Progreso Village relocation site expansion of Bacolod City College, and the improvemen­t of road network in the city, especially the New Bacolod Economic Highway./map
