RE-ELECTED Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya has vowed to continue his programs on social services, health, sports and infrastructure projects in the city.

This was stressed by Gasataya after he was able to defend his post for second straight term against former congressman and former mayor Monico Puentevella on May 13 elections.

Gasataya garnered 135, 346 votes against 84, 705 votes of his rival Puentevella.

Gasataya said that he’s humbled by the historic overwhelming support given to him by the people of Bacolod.

“It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I accept the mandate you have given to me to serve my second straight term as your representative. I wish to take this opportunity to show my deepest gratitude to my beloved wife Meita, my children, and our entire family for staying strong and being my rock through the tough times,” he said.

Gasataya noted that the overwhelming support inspires him to do more than what he had achieved on his first term.

“I’m thankful for the people of Bacolod and I guarantee them that what I’ve done for the two years and ten months, we would continue and improve things that needs to be given importance and priority,” Gasataya said.

He said that for the next three years, he will continue to deliver the scholarships for the students, funds for the hospital and medical concerns, sports, and continuation of the big projects of the national government in Bacolod such as the Bacolod economic highway, the third flyover, the completion of the ongoing projects which was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in various areas of Bacolod.

He added in June, the national government will also implement the construction of the median island from Barangay Tangub towards Barangay Sum-ag, installation of street lights, improvement of drainage along Circumferential Road, among others.

Gasataya pointed out that they will ensure the good working relationship between the mayor and the congressman to fasttrack and improve the services for the people of Bacolod.

He said in 2019, the national government allotted P1.4-billion budget for Bacolod.

“We are thankful that we have a big budget compared to other places, it means the confidence of the national government on the implementation of infrastructure projects were really implemented,” he added.

Gasataya also expressed his gratitude for President Rodrigo Duterte for providing such huge amount for Bacolod City alone.
