‘Modern jeepneys’ launched in Bacolod
4 Public Utility Vehicles will soon be plying at the different routes in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
Marcelo Ochia, chairperson of The United Negros Transport Cooperative (UNETCO) which is partnering with Yellowdot for the transport modernization revealed yesterday that as of this time there are already 25 units of Euro 4 PUVS ready for operation in Bacolod City and that about a thousand more units are coming.
He said that they are just waiting for the route coordination and franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to start operation in six major routes in Bacolod City like Punta Taytay, Fortune Towne and Regent Pearl.
Ochia admitted that the fares for Euro 4 PUVS are higher by P2 compared to the present PUV fares.
They are also constructing terminals for the modernized jeepneys.
Ochia said that the people of Bacolod will witness the transition from the traditional Jeepneys to the new and state of the art modernized jeep which are environment friendly using the Euro 4 technology equipped with CCTV cameras, air-conditioned units and cashless fare system.
The members of the cooperative are from various transport operators all over the province and have come to unite and formed the said coop to avail of the units that will soon serve the commuters all over the country. Last October 2018, Yellowdot transport presented the various models that will soon take the city streets and replace the traditional transport jeepneys in compliance with the transport modernization program lead by the Duterte administration. The launching and blessings of the Euro 4 PUJS were held at the NGC grounds yesterday.
Yellowdot is a fleet management corporation and is partner of UNETCO that ensures licenses and registration with Government agencies are met. The transport management company engages in the acquisition and fleet management of PUVS and helps operators to avail of the brand new, fuel efficient vehicles that abides with the environmental standards set by the Government.
The said vehicles were at the New Government Center where officers of the cooperative as well as the key personalities of Yellowdot Transport Inc. attended the launching along with Bacolod City government officials led by Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and Congressman Greg Gasataya.
A motorcade from the New Government Center to Ayala Capitol Mall was also held.*
