THE City Government of Bacolod is planning to construct two classrooms temporary learning shelter for Progreso Village National High School (PVNHS) at Progreso Village 1 in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.
Executive Assistant Moises De la Cruz, cluster head on education, said the city allotted P1.5 million budget for the construction of two classrooms temporary learning shelter for PVNHS students.
“It’s already an opening of classes and we saw the lack of classrooms at PVNHS. They need 11 classrooms,” he said.
Since it’s the first day of class today, De la Cruz added that the PVNHS students will temporarily use the Gabriella building and the Vista Alegregranada Relocation Elementary School (Vagres) building.
De la Cruz noted that Vagres School Principal Riggi Lachica already arranged that they will hold classes in the morning for elementary students and high school students in the afternoon.
PVNHS has an existing of about 500 Grades 7 and 8 students. All of them are occupying the facilities of Vagres under the supervision of Lachica.
In 2018, the city officials held the groundbreaking for the threestorey building of PVNHS at Progreso Village 1 in Barangay Vista Alegre.
De la Cruz said the construction of the building was delayed due to elections ban.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier said the local school board had approved a P20 million budget for the construction of the PVNHS.
He said it is part of the building plan to construct 15 rooms, but some of it will be used as a faculty room./map
