20 Dualtech scholars leave for Laguna

THE FIRST batch of 20 scholars who are recipients of a two-year technical vocational scholarshi­p at the Dualtech Training Center, left for Laguna on Saturday to study Electromec­hanical Technology under the dual training system.

The scholars are from the different cities and municipali­ties in Negros Occidental. They are Arnie Balinario (Sagay City), Jay-ar Balinario (Sagay City), Angelo Belo (Cadiz City), Nielmar Calipayan (La Carlota City), Emel Canabal (Victorias City), Radin Celeste, Jr. (Victorias City), Henry Deliron II (Manapla), Ronalde Dumdum (Sagay City), Jessie Esteban, Jr. (Murcia), Justin Maratas (Escalante City), Gabril Navales (Cadiz City), Dione Olindang, Jr. (Sagay City), Edrian Opialda (EB Magalona), Choniel Palasuelo (Sipalay City), John Rey Parreñas (Victorias City), Joren Pido (Silay City), Jerson Pillones (Sipalay City), Rolen Seballos (Silay City), Charles Joseph Singuay (Victorias City) and Mark Joseph Sudayan (Victorias City).

A fellowship and farewell lunch for the scholars was held at Buklod Study Center, Saturday, attended by Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., Buglas Foundation Inc. President Mr. Raffy Gonzales, Treasurer Mr. Felipe Espinosa, Board of Trustee Mr. Joaquin Heras, Buklod Study Center Director Mr. Philip Carpina, Buglas Foundation staff and the parents and other family members of the scholars, among others.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr., in his speech, said that this is a big chance given to the students as this system of training is what made countries like Germany progress in the field of electromec­hanics.

The dual training system is a two-year personal training divided into six months theories and eighteen months industry placement that upon graduation will produce high quality and globally competitiv­e electromec­hanics technician­s.

Jr. challenged the scholars to be good examples to the succeeding batches, as there will be 380 more slots that will be opened to whoever is willing to avail it.

“Never forget to pray and ask God for guidance and strength. Thank Him for choosing you to be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunit­y to study and help your families in the future,” he added.

The Negros Occidental Scholarshi­p Program Division is still looking for male high school graduates who are residents of Negros Occidental, 17-22 years old, no tattoos/ piercings and are interested in studying electromec­hanics at the Dualtech Training Center./pr
