P65K ‘shabu’ seized in Brgy. 31

AN ESTIMATED P65, 000 worth of shabu or methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide was seized in a drug-bust at Purok Sto. Nino, Barangay 31, Bacolod City on Monday night.

The operation conducted by the operatives of City Drug Enforcemen­t Unit (CDEU) also led to the arrest of Pedjay Javellana, 32, of Barangay 31.

Police Major Ariel Pico, spokespers­on of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Javellana was caught selling shabu to a police undercover at 10 p.m.

Police recovered from Javellana’s possession three sachets of shabu weighing six grams, the P500 marked money, a digital weighing scale, and coin purse.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 6 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a suspected snatcher was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by operatives of Police Station 2 at North Capitol Road, Barangay 6 on Monday night.

Police identified the suspect as John Etang, of Bacolod City.

Pico said Etang was arrested after he snatched the gadget of Shirley Panuncio, who was on board a public utility jeepney at about 7:06 p.m.

Panuncio sought police assistance that led to the arrest of the suspect.

Police recovered from Etang’s possession one Xiome Redme Note worth P8,000 which was owned by the victim.

Pico said Etang was positively identified by the victim at Police Station 2.

He said the suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2 and facing theft charges.*
