Philhealth seeks teachers’ aid to promote programs

-

SOME 300 grade 10 public school MAPEH teachers went through the Teaching of Philhealth Learner’s Material (PLM) training with the state health insurance corporation.

These teachers, who trained for seven sessions, were from the schools divisions of Kabankalan City, Bago City, La Carlota City, Silay City, Bacolod City and Sagay City.

This partnership of Philhealth and the Department of Education started in 2015 which aims to provide students with the knowledge and understanding about Philhealth and values/principles of Social Health Insurance, instill appreciation about the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) to the students early in their lives and raise young advocates and champions of Philhealth.

Philhealth-6 Acting Regional Vice President Janet A. Monteverde said these teachers are further equipped with the needed knowledge to be able to teach Philhealth’s programs, values and enhanced benefits to students.

“We believe that teachers are the best source of learning in school and that they have the capability to diligently mold young minds to become achievers in life,” Monteverde said.

During the first semester, Philhealth will monitor and evaluate demo schools on the PLM implementation to see if the teachers and learners are able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the evaluation and utilization of Philhealth products and benefits.

The demo schools include: Tuyom National High School in Cauayan, Pontevedra National High School, Negros Occidental National Science High School in Victorias City; Jovita H. Sayson National High School in Bacolod City, Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School in La Carlota City, Ramon Torres Taloc National High School in Bago City; Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School in Silay City, Binicuil National High School in Kabankalan City and Sagay National High School. Philhealth also plans for a National Quiz Bee for all Grade 10 to 12 students nationwide during the 25th Anniversary of Philhealth on February 14, 2020 and the training for students exposure to Philhealth’s programs will be helpful.
