Capitol Hostel to open in July

-

THE newly renovated Capitol Hostel operated by the provincial government of Negros Occidental will open in July.

Board Member Salvador Escalante said his committee discussed yesterday the rates of the Capitolowned facility.

The furniture and fixtures have already been awarded to the supplier and will be delivered before the month ends, Escalante said.

There will be 56 beds for the dormitory-type rooms which will be good for four persons, six persons and 12 persons, he said while there will also be de luxe, ordinary and suite rooms.

It has about 150 total bed capacity and will be under the Economic Enterprise Division, Escalante added.

During the public hearing, it was approved that the hostel will have the following rates:

Dormitory rooms- P300 per person each day

Hotel Rooms- P2,100 to P3,700

He added that they also authorize the governor to give up to 20 percent discount.

The discount is based on the discount given to senior citizens and persons with disability he said.

“Based on the feasibility study, if there is 60 percent occupancy on our second year of operation we can already gain income, “Escalante pointed out.

The Capitol invested P150 million for the renovation of the hostel, he said.

“After a year, the Capitol will start P9 million yearly amortization and we expect an P11 million to P12 million sales,” he also said.

With the 300 seater function rooms, the hostel targets local officials and employees as well as the barangay workers and day care workers who will attend seminars and trainings and study tours in Bacolod, Escalante said.

It has yet to be decided if Mambucal will be the official caterer of events at the hostel, he said./tde
