P489,600 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

AN estimated P489,600 worth of shabu methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide was seized in separate drug bust operations in Bacolod City on Tuesday.

The operations also led to the arrest of five drug personalit­ies identified as Salvador Reyes, of Barangay Handumanan; Antonio Minase, 43, of Barangay 19; John Paul Viajedor, 38, of Barangay Estefania, all in Bacolod City; Rico Plana, 50, of Barangay Palaka, Valladolid; and Raymund Jereza, 54, of Barangay 3, La Carlota City.

Reyes was arrested by operatives of Police Station 10 after he was caught selling shabu to a police undercover at Zone 9, Barangay Handumanan at about 3:05 p.m.

Police recovered from Reyes’s possession two sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P6,000, and the 100 marked money.

The operatives of Bacolod City Police Office, Police Station 2, Regional Drug Enforcemen­t Unit-6, and the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEEA)-6 also arrested Minase at Purok Lubi, Barangay 3 at about 6 p.m.

Recovered from Minase’s possession were 22 sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P384,000, and the P500 marked money.

At about 9 p.m., the operatives proceeded to South Capitol Lagoon in Barangay 9 that led to the arrest of Plana and Jereza.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession a sachet of shabu with estimated market value of P36,000, the P5,000 marked money, Toyoto Hilux, and drug parapherna­lia.

Viajedor was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 4 at Celine Homes, Barangay Estefania at about 10:55 p.m.

Police recovered from Viajedor’s possession 10 sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P63, 600, and the P500 marked money.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Stations 2, 4 and 10 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
