Escalante declares CPP-NPA persona non grata
THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Escalante City has declared the Communist Party of the Philippines- New People”s Army persona non grata.
City Resolution No. 2019-050, as approved by the Sagguniang Panglungsod of the City of Escalante adopting Resolution No. 2019-002 of the City’s Peace and Order Council (CPOC) declaring the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army (CPPNPA) as persona non grata and denouncing the atrocities being perpetuated by the Communist Terrorists Groups (CTGS).
It also cites that, a safe and secured environment is an important factor in fostering investment and economic growth. Peace and order unite religions and culture, incorporating values of security and harmony together with justice and respect for human dignity.
Whereas, there is need for a united and concerted effort with the police, military and civilian population for the prevention and deterrence of any terrorism, insurgency, and highly organized crimes in the 21 barangays of Escalante City, the resolution added.
The declaration of persona non grata of Escalante City is a manifestation of the LGUS and Peoples support in the campaigns against terrorism and criminalities of the Philippine Army and the PNP.
Lieutenant Colonel Emelito Thaddeus M Logan, the commanding officer of 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, expressed pleasure over the development and commended the Escalante City officials for their appropriate action against the CTGS as well as to other municipalities, cities and provinces who declared CTGS as persona non grata.
“I wished and pray that this cohesive display of moral courage and bravery of the people of Escalante will encourage other LGUS in Western Visayas specially in Northern Negros to declare the same and to continue to support the peace initiatives of the government,” Logan said./tde
