Satellite voter registrati­on in 6 Bacolod villages set

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City will conduct satellite voter registrati­on for six Saturdays from August 17 to September 21 to six big barangays in the city.

City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-sia said the voter registrati­on already resumed yesterday for the barangay and Sanggunian­g Kabataan (SK) elections in 2020 and its part of their schedule to conduct a satellite registrati­on in selected barangays every Saturday only.

She said on August 17, they will be in Barangay Granada Covered Court that will cater the residents of Barangays Granada and Alangilan. On August 24, they will be in Barangay Estafania; August 31 in Barangay Mansilinga­n; September 7 in Barangay Handumanan; September 14 in Barangay Vista Alegre; and September 21 in Barangay Taculing.

Aside from the six barangays, Majarucon-sia added that they will also hold a special satellite

registrati­on in Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on August 21 to cater to the policemen who failed to cast their votes in previous elections because of their duties.

Comelec will also hold a special satellite registrati­on in Department of Education (Deped) Social Hall on August 26 to reactivate the records of teachers and on September 4, they will be at the University of St. La Salle to cater the students because of the SK election.

On September 11, Comelec will be at Bacolod City National High School Gymnasium then, on September 18, they will cater the person’s with disability and senior citizens at the Annex Building in Bacolod Government Center.

Majarucon-sia said that during the satellite and special registrati­ons in said areas, the Comelec office will be closed.

She said Comelec office is open from Mondays to Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The voter registrati­on will end on September 30.

She added they can only accommodat­e 250 registrant­s daily because this is only the capacity of the machines.

Majarucon-sia disclosed the registrant­s should bring valid government identifica­tion cards (ID) with picture and signature, original and photocopy of birth certificat­e. If their residence is not stated on the ID, they could bring a proof of their residence or billing statements like water or electric bills./map
