Highest scoring game recorded in PBA D-league

-

MANILA -- Hyperwash prevailed over Mcdavid-la Salle Araneta in a historic PBA D-league Foundation Cup battle at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Monday night.

Hyperwash scored a 144-138 victory over Mcdavid-la Salle Araneta in what would be the highest scoring D-league game ever.

Hyperwash's final score is already a record in itself as it shattered the singlegame highest tally by a club, eclipsing Tanduay's 141 points in a huge rout against Zark's in the 2017 edition of the conference.

On the other hand, the 138 points of Mcdavid-la Salle Araneta set the new league record for the highest score for a losing side, way more than the 106 points set by Cagayan in the 2015 Foundation Cup and Wang's Basketball in the 2016 Foundation Cup.

Coincidentally, both Cagayan and Wang's fell to the same Racal franchise in those matches.

The 282 combined points of both Hyperwash and Mcdavid-la Salle Araneta was more than enough to eclipse the Racalzark's game as the all-time highest scoring game.

Racal (140) and Zark's (90) combined for 230 points in their 2017 Foundation Cup match-up.

Following the recordbreaking result, Hyperwash coach Joel Palapal will now put a premium on defense in its team practice.

"Iwo-work namin yung depensa. Kasi yung binigay naming puntos, talagang mataas. Hopefully, makabawi kami sa depensa sa next game (We will work on our defense because we gave too much points. Hopefully, we can bounce back next game with our defense)," Palapal said.

JR Cawaling erupted for 48 points for Hyperwash, the second best single-game scoring performance by a player in Dleague history, just 10 shy of James Martinez's 58point bomb for AMA Online Education in the 2016 Aspirants Cup.

Mac Montilla added a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Lord Casajeros unfurled 24 points, four boards, and two assists.

Jeric Fortuna chipped in 15 points, 10 assists, five steals, and four rebounds.

Nigerian big man Henry Iloka paced Mcdavid-la Salle Araneta with 43 points, 26 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

In the other games, Technological Institute of the Philippines rode on a 37-point explosion from Papa Ndiaye to edge Alberei, 105-95, and Marinerong Pilipino blasted Asia's Lashes, 7351./PNA
