Tour-guiding contest winners named

A GRADE 12 student of Bacolod City National High School, and a sophomore student of La Consolacio­n College (LCC)- Bacolod were declared champions in the Tour-guiding Competitio­n at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby, September 6.

The competitio­n was part of the City Tourism Week that opened on September 5, with the theme, “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All.”

Danna Pamela Awero and Janmil Tomias won in the senior high school and college levels, respective­ly.

Other winners in the senior high school category were Reynalene Arroyo, Grade 11, Bata National High School—2nd place; Kathleen Detomas, Grade 12, Fr. Gratian Murray, AFSC Integrated School, 3rd place; and Jessel Lagdamen, Grade 12, College of Arts and Science of Asia and the Pacific— 4th place.

For college category, the other winners were Honey Rose Bornes, second year, STI West Negros University—2nd place; and Alexis Villegas, second year, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation Bacolod—3rd place.

Councilor Israel Salanga, chair of the Sanggunian­g Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, and Acting City Tourism Officer Sandra Ruth Sycip led the second day of the Tourism Week celebratio­n.

Judges were Raymond Alunan of the Provincial Tourism Office; Dot-accredited tour guide Betsy Gazo, Dot-accredited tour operator Jason Tan, and Nelrose Eden Cornelio, project coordinato­r of the Provincial Tourism Office.
