NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that they are studying possible legal action against five returning Negrenses after they allegedly did not tell authorities that they came from the United
Kingdom before going home to Negros.
Two of the five returning overseas Filipinos (ROFS) and overseas Filipino workers (OFWS) from the municipality of Pontedevedra were tested positive for the coronavirus while the three others who belong to one family are from the town of E.b.magalona
Lacson also revealed that swab samples of the two who were tested positive will be submitted to Metro Manila for further tests especially of the new variant of virus from the UK.
This is an incident that also leads to the decision of the province to maintain the health protocols on returning Negrenses that they have to undergo swab test upon arrival to the province, Lacson said.
The governor also confirmed that they are filing complaints to the National Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases against the five OFWS who went home to the province without undergoing the required swab test in Manila. They allegedly misdeclared that they are locally stranded individuals (LSI).
