The Benefits of Seminars and Trainings to Teachers

- By: JAPETH N. PAGONZAGA-TEACHER III Cabadiangan Elementary School, SDO Sipalay

THE DEPARTMENT of Education’s goal is for every teacher to become not only efficient but also effective. Today, many trainings and seminars are being held in order to improve and develop the craft of each mentor in school. The Department understands that everything depends on a teacher’s ability to put learning at the heart of every pupil.

Attending an all-day seminar, or even a three-day training course, may not sound like a good use of your time. Getting away from school for a day or more and learning new things, on the other hand, is one of the best things you can do for your career and job satisfaction as a teacher. When your principal sends you to training, seminars, or conferences, he or she is investing in your future while also investing in the school. Instead of complaining about attending a workshop every now and then, consider what you will gain from this break from your daily routine. Here are some reasons why you should say “yes” the next time your principal offers to send you to training and seminar.

Improve existing skills you may already know how to do your job, and you may do it well. But what if there were aspects of your job that could be simplified and you weren’t aware of it? An outsider looking in on your workplace can often see things you miss. Even if you’ve been following the same routine for several years, being open to input from outside sources always leads to new perspectives.

Trainings and seminars are great for sharpening existing skills, but they can also introduce you to new ones. Are you going to figure it out on your own if your school buys new machinery or software and you’re unfamiliar with it and don’t know how to use it? Surprisingly, a lot of people would. However, just as getting to a new destination without a map can take you all over the country, attempting to learn a new tool without instructions can waste valuable time while still leaving you in the dark. Formal training and seminars provide an overview of everything the new tool can do.

Increased work quality, training, and seminars not only increase productivity, but also work quality. This is because when you attend training and seminars, you gain a variety of tools to help you do your job better. Simple things like how to deal with difficult people have the potential to improve a teacher’s quality. Quality is more important than efficiency opens in a new tab. when it comes to the performance of the teacher

Training and seminars are not a waste of time. Consider them your gateway to limitless opportunities. It provides opportunities for advancement, job satisfaction, knowledge to make tasks easier, and knowledge that can be applied to all aspects of your life. As previously stated, when you improve your existing skills or learn new ones, your value as a teacher grows. If you’re planning a long-term career, include some supervisory training as well.*
