Silay City dominates Beach Volleyball Tourney North Elim
THE SILAY City beach volleyball team flaunted its winning ways as it dominated the ABANSE NEGRENSE Beach Volleyball Tournament North Elimination over the weekend, November 19-20, 2022. The team ranked first in three out of the four main categories of the competition.
Beach volleyball fans in the northern Negros districts were definitely in for another exciting competition as the Provincial Sports Office-led beach volleyball tourney continued its North District Elimination in the City of San Carlos. Participated by several northern district LGU teams, Silay City proved to be a promising opponent after qualifying for the Provincial Championship slated this coming weekend.
In the three main categories – the 16-Under Boys, the 16-Under Girls, and the 21-Under Boys, the Silay City team emerged victorious after landing first place. Unfortunately, the team suffered a loss at the hands of E.B. Magalona and ranked in third place in the 16-Under Girls category.
In the 16-Under Boys category, the City of Silay was followed by the San Carlos A team in second, Victorias City in third place, and the Cadiz B team in fourth. For the 16-Under Girls, Talisay City ranked second following Silay City, while the Victorias City and San Carlos C teams ranked in third and fourth places, respectively.
Furthermore, two Silay City teams (Silay A and Silay B) took the lead in the 21-Under Boys category in first and third places. Victorias City’s A and B teams also joined the City of Silay in the fourth and second ranks.
E.B. Magalona, on the other hand, nabbed the champion title in the 21-Under Girls age group, followed by San Carlos City in second place. Silay City ranked third, and Talisay City landed in fourth place.
Following the two-week South and North Districts Eliminations, the winning teams will face off as they vie for the ultimate beach volleyball champion team at the ABANSE NEGRENSE Beach Volleyball Tournament Provincial Championship on November 25-26 at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium.
Meanwhile, this beach volleyball tournament is part of the ABANSE NEGRENSE Grassroots Sports Development programs initiated by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, in cooperation with the Provincial Sports Office. Gov. Bong Lacson hopes to create, motivate, and foster future Negrense trailblazers in various sports events who could bring pride and honor to the province and the country.*
