ELEVEN police officers were injured when their patrol car figured in an accident along the national road of Barangay Caningay in Candoni town, Negros Occidental shortly before noontime yesterday, NOvember 28.

A report submitted by the Candoni Municipal Police Station to the Negros Occidental Provincial Police office identified the injured policemen as Patrolmen Jerome Tolentino, Joey Bana-ag, Eric Abela, Bryan Ambaja, Jared King Dadivas and Emam James Apucay.

Also injured were Corporals Mark Jil Salazar, John Arevalo, Noriel Vergara, Kenneth Valiao and

Reggie Tacdoro, the police report added.

Candoni town’s police chief, Major Ruel Culanag said the policemen are members of the 604th company Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6 and were conducting routinary road patrol operation when the accident happened.

He said Apucay who was driving the patrol car miscalculated a turn since the road was ascending and failed to step on the brakes.

This caused the vehicle to fall down on its left side before finally flipping beside the road, Culanag added.

“They were initially brought to the Candoni Rural Health Clinic but were later transferred to Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital in Kabankalan City but none of them have serious injuries,” the police official told Sunstar Bacolod.

The five other policemen on board the vehicle were unhurt, the police said.*(apn)
