EDC dis­trib­utes school sup­plies to over 3,800 stu­dents

OVER 3,800 stu­dents from Bago City and Mur­cia town in Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal re­ceived school sup­plies from En­ergy De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (EDC) as part of their an­nual gift giv­ing to school­child­ren within their con­stituency.

Ed­u­ca­tion is the cen­ter­piece of EDC’S cor­po­rate so­cial re­spon­si­bil­ity pro­gram, which has been pro­vid­ing sup­port to over 10,000 stu­dents from the ele­men­tary to the ter­tiary level all over Ne­gros Is­land and has been rec­og­nized for its best prac­tices and sus­tain­abil­ity, not just here in the coun­try, but glob­ally.

The new school sup­plies were given to stu­dents of Mailum Ele­men­tary School, Mi­noyan Ele­men­tary School, Balasyang Ele­men­tary School, RM Araneta Ele­men­tary School, Fbaran­di­aran Ele­men­tary School, CA Dormido Ele­men­tary School, and Na­jaba Ele­men­tary School.

EDC Com­mu­nity Part­ner­ships, Ex­ter­nal Re­la­tions and Water­shed Man­age­ment Team head Nor­reen Bautista, who led the dis­tri­bu­tion, said: “the an­nual gift-giv­ing is our own way of mo­ti­vat­ing them and keep­ing these kids in school so they can pur­sue their dreams when they grow up.”

Mur­cia Vice Mayor Ger­ardo Ro­jas at­tended the dis­tri­bu­tion at the Mi­noyan Ele­men­tary School and gave in­spir­ing words on the value of ed­u­ca­tion and com­mu­nity part­ner­ship to stu­dents and teach­ers.

Me­rian Bañas from the Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion, mean­while, at­tended the gift-giv­ing at Mailum Ele­men­tary School.
