This was confirmed by her Chief of Staff Jayr Nadela to Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

“This will make the festival more exciting and more star-studded. Being the brightest political star today after her father, the anticipation of her visit alone makes this year’s celebration interesting and colorful,” Leonardia exclaimed.

“Mayor Sara though is not a first-timer in Masskara because I remember many years ago I was surprised to see her among the crowd as she came incognito, saying she wanted ‘to observe and learn from how we run Masskara.’ It was a humble gesture which got our admiration and respect,” the mayor added.

Leonardia and Sara Duterte were both officers of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) National Board when they were both mayors in 2010-2013.
