DRRMO to de­ploy 2,000 vol­un­teers for high­lights of Masskara Fes­ti­val

THE Bacolod City Dis­as­ter Risk Re­duc­tion and Man­age­ment Of­fice (CDRRMO) will de­ploy its per­son­nel in­clud­ing the vol­un­teers to the three fes­ti­val sites dur­ing the high­lights of the 39th Masskara Fes­ti­val from Oc­to­ber 26 to 28.

Ex­ec­u­tive as­sis­tant Jose Maria Var­gas, clus­ter head for dis­as­ter man­age­ment, said yes­ter­day about 2,000 per­son­nel from var­i­ous vol­un­teer units will be de­ployed to pub­lic plaza, Lac­son Street and the Gov­ern­ment Cen­ter.

“It’s ex­pected that we will have an in­flux of tourists to the city’s fes­ti­val sites so we must be pre­pared,” he said.

The res­cue vol­un­teers were also tasks to as­sist and mon­i­tor the Masskara dancers dur­ing the street dance and arena com­pe­ti­tions.

Var­gas said they will also de­ploy about 17 am­bu­lances with 82 crews to the fes­ti­val sites.

He said the Masskara rev­el­ers should bring wa­ter and avoid wear­ing jew­elry while roam­ing in the fes­ti­val sites.

Var­gas also re­minded the par­ents to watch closely their chil­dren dur­ing the Masskara street dance and arena com­pe­ti­tions to avoid un­to­ward in­ci­dents./map
