Nurse dies after car hits ma­hogany tree

A NURSE died after his car hit a ma­hogany tree on his way home at the bound­ary of Granada and Alangi­lan vil­lages in Ba­colod City at early Fri­day.

Se­nior In­spec­tor Ro­mulo Gepi­lango, head of Po­lice Sta­tion 5, iden­ti­fied the fa­tal­ity as Dix Ridge Villa, 24, of Barangay Alangi­lan.

Gepi­lango said the vic­tim at­tempted to avoid a gut­ter caus­ing his ve­hi­cle to swerve and hit a tree.

He was also re­port­edly speed­ing which caused his car to turned tur­tle, Gepi­lango said.

The en­gine even de­tached from his ve­hi­cle and hit two tri­cy­cles parked at the road­side.

His ve­hi­cle was wrecked while the two tri­cy­cles were dam­aged.

Villa was ex­pe­ri­enc­ing nose­bleed but no phys­i­cal in­juries were seen on his body, Gepi­lango said.

He was rushed to Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hos­pi­tal, where he ex­pired sev­eral hours later.

Mean­while, 20 per­sons sus­tained mi­nor in­juries after a Ceres Liner bus re­port­edly hit a pas­sen­ger jeep­ney at Barangay Caluman­gan in Bago City, Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal Thurs­day af­ter­noon.

The jeep­ney parked at the road­side to un­load a pas­sen­ger when the bus which was re­port­edly speed­ing hit the ve­hi­cle.

Eigh­teen pas­sen­gers of the jeep­ney and two bus pas­sen­gers were rushed to a hos­pi­tal.

Both driv­ers were un­harmed and un­der po­lice cus­tody, pend­ing the set­tle­ment be­tween the vic­tims and the bus com­pany.*
