DOT launches ‘refreshed’ tourism campaign
THE Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday, February 18, launched a renewed and refreshed “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-puyat, who spearheaded the launching held at the National Museum of Natural History, said the new campaign focuses on sustainable tourism in the wake of government’s clean-up efforts in Boracay and Manila Bay.
“With more and more travelers conscious about their ecological footprint, the cultures and experiences they are consuming, and simply wanting to know how they can give back. The time is ripe for the re-purposing of the word ‘fun’,” Romulo-puyat said.
The new campaign is 100-percent crowdsourced as it uses some of the 4.3 million real photos, videos and reviews shared by both local and foreign travelers using the hashtag #Itsmorefuninthephilippines.
“After all, working with what we already have is the essence of sustainability,” Romulopuyat said.
For each photo or video used, a contribution is made in the name of the content owner for the preservation of beaches, mountains and wildlife.
The campaign uses a custom-made font called “Barabara” that the public may download for free. The logo features a weave with each color representing a uniquely Filipino product.
During the launch, Romulo-puyat encouraged more travelers to participate in the campaign by sharing their photos and videos. The DOT plans to release more crowd-sourced promotional content.
“We invite everyone to be part of ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’. I’m sure you have a photo in your phone featuring a Philippine destination that you haven’t uploaded yet, or tag your photos even from your previous posts using the hashtag #Itsmorefuninthephilippines in your travels across the country,” she said./mvi/ Sunstar Philippines
