Ba­colod Coun­cil con­demns killing of Moises Padilla coun­cilor

THE Ba­colod City Coun­cil ap­proved a res­o­lu­tion con­demn­ing the killing of Coun­cilor Jose An­to­nio Garcia and his un­cle for­mer Liga ng mga Barangay president Jose Marcelino Garcia of the Moises Padilla town and ex­press­ing deepthe est sym­pa­thy to the be­reaved fam­ily.

The res­o­lu­tion, au­thored by Coun­cilor Em Ang, was ap­proved dur­ing the reg­u­lar ses­sion on Thurs­day.

Ang said the mem­bers of the Philip­pine Coun­cilors League – Ba­colod con­demns the killing of the fel­low coun­cilor and his un­cle, and prays for the speedy in­ves­ti­ga­tion on the in­ci­dent so that jus­tice may be served.

On April 25, Coun­cilor Garcia and his un­cle along with their party were cam­paign­ing in Barangay Ino­lin­gan of the said mu­nic­i­pal­ity when about twenty uniden­ti­fied men on board a ve­hi­cle and a mo­tor­cy­cle fired at them at close range.

Ang said the City Coun­cil deeply mourns the pass­ing of Coun­cilor Garcia and of­fers a minute of silent prayer for the eter­nal re­pose of his soul.

More­over, Coun­cilor Cae­sar Distrito also man­i­fested that the res­o­lu­tion will be sub­mit­ted to the Of­fice of President Rodrigo Duterte for the speedy in­ves­ti­ga­tion on the in­ci­dent.*
