2 nabbed for vote-buying in Hinoba-an
TWO persons were nabbed in Hinoba-an for allegedly committing violation of the Omnibus Election Code on vote-buying during the May 13 elections.
The suspects were identified by the police as Gary Sael, 32 years old, married, farmer, resident of Purok 3, Brgy. Culipapa, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental and Ritchie Lero , 46 years old, married, tricycle driver, resident of Purok 4, Brgy. Culipapa, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
Police report said that at about 2:00 P.M of May 13, 2019, Quick Response Team together with Domingo Caberio who is a barangay kagawad of Brgy. Culipapa, Gaudecio Perocho POLL watcher and Junrey Castro, also a POLL watcher, all residents of Brgy. Culipapa, Hinoba-an, turned-over to Hinobaan Municipal Police Station the suspects who were caught in the act of giving sample ballot with money to the voters inside the vicinity of Culipapa Elementary School together with the recovered pieces of evidence from Sael which includes blue body bag containing one (1) piece sample ballot “TEAM ESTRAO”, yellow pad with list of names, six (6) brown envelopes containing cash money amounting to three hundred pesos (Php300) with sample ballot in each envelope and one white envelope containing cash money amounting to four hundred pesos (Php400).
Recovered from Lero on the other hand were two sample ballots “TEAM ESTRAO” with cash money amounting to two hundred fifty pesos (Php250).
The total money recovered all amounted to two thousand four hundred fifty pesos (Php 2, 450.00).
The suspects are now under the custody of Hinobaan Police Station with pending case for violation of Sec 261 of the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines (vote- buying)./tde
