Cop com­mits sui­cide

A COP’S body was re­cov­ered af­ter he was be­lieved to have com­mit­ted sui­cide by shoot­ing him­self on his chest us­ing his is­sued firearm at the Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal Pro­vin­cial Mo­bile Force Com­pany in Barangay Mabini, Es­calante City around 4:20 p.m. on June 14.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Pa­trol­man Richard Vil­la­sis, 26 years old, sin­gle and res­i­dent of Barangay Jaena Norte, Ja­min­dan, Capiz.

Based on po­lice re­port, Staff Sergeant Romel Aguilar dis­cov­ered the life­less body of Pat. Richard Vil­la­sis ly­ing on his bed with blood vis­i­ble on his chest. He also no­ticed the vic­tim’s is­sued hand­gun on the floor which is sev­eral feet away from the vic­tim’s bed. He in­formed the guard on duty as well as alarm all the per­son­nel present in the de­tach­ment and called the Es­calante City Po­lice Sta­tion for as­sis­tance.

Ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that the vic­tim com­mit­ted sui­cide by wrap­ping his is­sued firearm with the use of a towel to sup­press the gun­shot noise and pointed the gun to his chest. The vic­tim sus­tained gun­shot wound on his chest which ex­ited at the back por­tion of his body that caused his sud­den death.

The Scene of the Crime Op­er­a­tives has been re­quested to con­duct crime scene pro­cess­ing. Re­cov­ered from the crime scene were one (1) unit Cal .45 pis­tol Colt MK4 Ser­ries 70, loaded 1 live am­mu­ni­tion on the cham­ber with mag­a­zine at­tached loaded with 5 live am­mos, 1 fired car­tridge case, per­sonal be­long­ing and oth­ers.

It is not yet es­tab­lished why the vic­tim com­mit­ted sui­cide.

Mean­while a per­son died of a stab­bing in­ci­dent in Sitio Bunga, Brgy. Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla also on June 14.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Danilo Mar­cosa, 45 years old of the Barangay while the sus­pect was iden­ti­fied as Archel Mis­sion, 23 years old also of the same Barangay.

Based on po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion, while the vic­tim and the sus­pect were hav­ing a drink­ing spree, a wit­ness saw the sus­pect stabbed the vic­tim. The wit­ness im­me­di­ately in­formed the brother-in-law of the vic­tim about the in­ci­dent. When they went back to the place of in­ci­dent they saw the vic­tim ly­ing on the ground. The body of the vic­tim was brought to Nalagon Funeral Homes in Moises Padilla for post mortem ex­am­i­na­tion.

Re­cov­ered from the crime scene were one (1) bladed weapon a bolo with scab­bard, and mil­i­tary lousy cap that be­long to the vic­tim.*
