Cop commits suicide
A COP’S body was recovered after he was believed to have committed suicide by shooting himself on his chest using his issued firearm at the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company in Barangay Mabini, Escalante City around 4:20 p.m. on June 14.
The victim was identified as Patrolman Richard Villasis, 26 years old, single and resident of Barangay Jaena Norte, Jamindan, Capiz.
Based on police report, Staff Sergeant Romel Aguilar discovered the lifeless body of Pat. Richard Villasis lying on his bed with blood visible on his chest. He also noticed the victim’s issued handgun on the floor which is several feet away from the victim’s bed. He informed the guard on duty as well as alarm all the personnel present in the detachment and called the Escalante City Police Station for assistance.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim committed suicide by wrapping his issued firearm with the use of a towel to suppress the gunshot noise and pointed the gun to his chest. The victim sustained gunshot wound on his chest which exited at the back portion of his body that caused his sudden death.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives has been requested to conduct crime scene processing. Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) unit Cal .45 pistol Colt MK4 Serries 70, loaded 1 live ammunition on the chamber with magazine attached loaded with 5 live ammos, 1 fired cartridge case, personal belonging and others.
It is not yet established why the victim committed suicide.
Meanwhile a person died of a stabbing incident in Sitio Bunga, Brgy. Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla also on June 14.
The victim was identified as Danilo Marcosa, 45 years old of the Barangay while the suspect was identified as Archel Mission, 23 years old also of the same Barangay.
Based on police investigation, while the victim and the suspect were having a drinking spree, a witness saw the suspect stabbed the victim. The witness immediately informed the brother-in-law of the victim about the incident. When they went back to the place of incident they saw the victim lying on the ground. The body of the victim was brought to Nalagon Funeral Homes in Moises Padilla for post mortem examination.
Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) bladed weapon a bolo with scabbard, and military lousy cap that belong to the victim.*
