Bacolod to build 2nd evacuation center
ANOTHER evacuation center is set to be constructed in Bacolod City.
This was confirmed by Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya yesterday after he received a communication from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Gasataya said he was informed that there’s a possibility of another evacuation center for Bacolod City this year.
“We will coordinate with the city government to provide the lot for the construction of building that will be funded by the national government,” he said.
He added that one of the areas being considered by the city government is the government-owned lot at the Bacolod City National High School in Barangay Taculing.
Gasataya noted that the evacuation center has an estimated budget of P33-million.
Once it will be awarded to the city, he said Bacolod will now have two evacuation centers.
In 2018, the DPWH constructed the Bacolod evacuation center, worth P36 million, in Abadaescay Relocation Site at Barangay Vista Alegre. The construction is still on-going.
“We are hopeful that they can finish these by August so it can be used by our constituents who are affected by typhoon and fire or any calamity or emergency,” Gasataya said.*
