CHO urged to in­ten­sify in­for­ma­tion drive on lung health

BA­COLOD City Coun­cilor Cindy Ro­jas urged the City Health Of­fice (CHO) to in­ten­sify its in­for­ma­tion and ed­u­ca­tion cam­paign in ob­ser­vance of the Na­tional Lung Month this Au­gust 2019.

Ro­jas, who au­thored a res­o­lu­tion which was ap­proved last week, said that the CHO is the im­ple­ment­ing arm of the Ba­colod City in en­sur­ing that Ba­colod­nons are ac­corded with the ben­e­fit of hav­ing a dy­namic and re­spon­sive health­care pro­gram.

“Our lungs are in­deed very im­por­tant and it is sus­cep­ti­ble to many dis­eases. Luck­ily for us, th­ese ill­nesses and ail­ments are quite easy to avoid pro­vided that the per­son adopts a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

Ro­jas noted that the month of Au­gust was de­clared as Na­tional Lung Month in the Philip­pines through the Pres­i­den­tial Procla­ma­tion No. 1761 signed by for­mer Pres­i­dent Fer­di­nand Mar­cos on July 24, 1978.

Ro­jas said Repub­lic Act 7160 or the Lo­cal Govern­ment Code of 1991, pro­vides that ev­ery lo­cal govern­ment unit shall ex­er­cise the pow­ers ex­pressly granted, those nec­es­sar­ily im­plied there­from, and those which are es­sen­tial to the pro­mo­tion of the gen­eral wel­fare
