Classes in Bacolod canceled due to ‘Tisoy’
THE City Government of Bacolod on Monday, December 2, declared suspension of classes on Tuesday, December 3, from pre-school to high school levels, both public and private, due to the inclement weather brought by Typhoon Tisoy.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia ordered the suspension during an emergency meeting of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BCDRRMC) yesterday.
Leonardia also issued a memorandum directing the BCDRRMC, especially its implementing arm
BCDRRMO, all Punong Barangays and Barangay Officials, and allied agencies of the Bacolod City Government to go on “red alert” in preparation for Typhoon Tisoy.
Red alert means that in anticipation of an imminent emergency situation, the local government unit (LGU) requires response agency staffing at the CDRRMC Command Center and immediate inter-agency coordination.
The mayor’s order was based on the recommendation of the BCDRRMC, which he chairs, after an emergency meeting at the Bacolod City Government Center Monday afternoon [Dec. 2].
Leonardia said he will make corresponding appropriate orders based on the next weather bulletin issued by Pagasa.
