Pangasinan police urged to secure motorists traversing TPLEx
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan - The Pangasinan Police Office ( PPO) will help provide security to motorists traversing the Pangasinan side of the Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEx).
This was assured following a coordinating conference between PPO officials and those of TPLEx at the PPO headquarters in Lingayen last April 16.
Sr. Supt. Reynaldo Biay, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan police, said the police was asked to help provide security to motorists taking TPLEx, especially at night as some vehicles are being pelt with stone.
The coordinating conference was attended by Biay, Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, chief of the police community relations; and the chiefs of police of Rosales, Villasis, and Urdaneta , all towns being traversed by TPLex, and from Tayug,.
The TPLEx officials were Nonie Opsima, head of the traffic management saferty and security department; Johanna Elkoisa Cera and Armand Hacla.
Stoning of vehicles, particularly buses traversing that stretch at night was on top of their discussion.
Both parties agreed to strengthen the safety and security of motorists traveling along TPLEx in the Pangasinan side.
In that conference, Biay emphasized that Pangasinan PPO through its concerned police station personnel were always ready to take immediate action to prevent any untoward incident to motorist traversing TPLEx .
Part of the security measures promised by the police is the conduct of intensified foot and mobile patrols in lateral coordination with TEPLEx's security forces and barangay officials within the area of Pangasinan.
Opsima agreed that additional security measures that may help prevent incidents, particularly stoning incidents on vehicles, is the installation of close circuit television, establishment of TPLEx-PNP Hotlines, and provision of additional lighting facilities.
PNP and TPLEX agreed to hold quarterly meeting to discuss other more feasible measures ensure the safety of travelers along the TPLEx and to conduct regular coordination to all concerned for a timely response to any untoward incidents. (PNA)
