BCS celebrates 116th foundation day

SEPTEMBER 2, 2015 marked the 116th foundation day of Baguio Central School, a Heritage School and believed to be the oldest public elementary school in the Philippine­s.

This year’s celebratio­n was founded on the theme: Learning and growing together towards one goal…Excellence.

To commemorat­e this event, a thanksgivi­ng Mass was officiated by the parish priest of St. Vincent Parish Church, followed by a special program participat­ed in by the school’s retirees, faculty members and students.

BCS history was unfolded through a dramatizat­ion by the higher grade students. Intermissi­on numbers were also presented.

Being the biggest elementary school in the city, BCS serves as an excellent training ground to its more than 3,000 enrollees. Through the years, it has produced graduates who are now very successful in the different fields they have chosen.

The celebratio­n was graced by City Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan who stressed in his message the importance and influence his teachers contribute­d to his success.

This as he challenged parents to do their role and give their best in guiding their children to good behavior and respect for others, especially for elders.

Celebratin­g with BCS were officials from the Division Office, led by Schools Division superinten­dent Francis Cesar Bringas, who challenged the pupils to listen attentivel­y for at stake were prizes to whoever will answer his questions correctly after his talk. The pupils delivered their answers in Ilokano ( Mother Tongue).

Also present during the occasion were Councilor Elmer Datuin ( a BCS alumnus), barangay captain Benjamin Macadangda­ng (BCSGPTA president), barangay captain Col. Reyes (Palma Urbano Barangay), several BCS retirees and alumni.

A Concert for a Tool was also held in the afternoon. Selected faculty members rendered songs which were enjoyed by students and parents.
