Mission Possible 2

-

ANOTHER long weekend was in the offing. My kids asked if a Manila trip can be had. It has since been some time when a trip down South was planned. The mission was for me to find the time to bring them along with me alone just with them. This would have really been the case as Joy would be staying home to where she will be making arrangements for her school transfer. Even Alex my assistant is needed for this transfer.

All before this, my mission was to represent the Cordillera Region for the first Summit for Advisory Councils for the Philippine National Police. I was a member for the Regional Advisory Council the past two years. My first as a request from General Benji Magalong. I continued on with General Gani Nerez who was previously my City Director when I was Mayor. We fulfilled one mission together. A first for Baguio. The Most Outstanding City Police Office for Highly Urbanized Cities beating Davao.

I was then given a mission to speak before very distinguished participants representing various Advisory Councils from around the country. My mission was to express the success I had partnering with my police force and the many awards we had as partners in keeping the peace. We beat Davao once more the succeeding year, until Mayor Duterte complained to President GMA that he can never beat Baguio. Baguio soon thereafter was transferred to another category. It was the last. A lasting moment for me.

I left Baguio at 6 in the morning that Thursday for the Summit that was held in Clark. I squeezed in a run around the base around 6 in the morning before attending the Summit the next day. After my talk I soon decided to drive back to Baguio that Friday, at 6 this time in the evening. I had to pick up my daughters who finished school for the week.

I had another mission, that Saturday I had another meeting in Manila for the Boy Scouts in the National Headquarters. We left early at 6 once more. No choice, my daughters had to tag along with me. My son who had classes in Taft was to meet us after my meeting. He however missed his class as it was so traffic. The effect of the rally along EDSA, all other thoroughfares were crowded and full.

If Friday traffic was bad, Saturday was worse as by this time the rally was now in full force. It was a long weekend and it was a payday. I still managed to do my mission. Sunday was a rest day for me. Just me and my kids. Joy was left at home in Baguio. I was cook, driver, janitor and house help for them, just as a disguise. I escaped a bit for a run but strong rain drenched me and lightning
