Mt. Province honors 2 centenarians
BONTOC, Mountain Province - One hundred and one years old Dulipas and 114years-old Walingchan
were recently honored by the provincial local government unit as Provincial Centenarians.
Dulipas was born on February 1, 1915 at Mayag, Bauko while Walingchan was born on March 7, 1902 in Banawel, Natonin and presently residing at Poblacion, Paracelis.
Board member Florence Taguiba awarded a plaque of recognition, a congratulatory resolution, and a cash award of P20,000 from the provincial government to Walingchan March 12 during the Women’s Day celebration in Paracelis.
Evelyn Capsoyen of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said the same award will be given to Dulipas on March 28 during the flag raising ceremony of the municipal government in Bauko.
Giving recognition to centenarians in the province is provided under Provincial Ordinance No. 192 also known as the Centenarian Recognition and Awards Ordinance of Mountain Province.
The provincial government awards a plaque and a congratulatory resolution and a cash award of P20, 000 which will be given one time only.
The centenarian is also entitled to a regular monthly visit by government health personnel for health check-up and monitoring by the PSWDO.
Three centenarians have already been given recognition last year, Capsoyen informed.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rosalinda Belagan said birth certificate is the primary required document to be submitted to prove the age of the centenarian awardee. In the absence of a birth certificate, any other document such as baptismal certificate, school or employment records, etc. which could establish the date of birth of the awardee, and which is acceptable to the Provincial Centenarian Committee.
She informed there are four more centenarian applicants whose documents have just been evaluated. Juliet Saley
