Easter Christians
ARE we Christians who suffer in silence? Are we Christians who proclaim our sufferings because we are confident that there is an Easter Morning?
Actually, we can be both. We can carry our crosses meekly because we know it is good for us and believe there is a purpose for our sufferings.
We can carry our load also because we are confident that Christ is more powerful than any challenge we are faced with.
Yesterday, I received a video clip on Viber. It had a cartoon picture of five people carrying their crosses on the one-way road to heaven. One of them, apparently the star of the video, was complaining to the Lord about the weight and size of his cross. The others were meekly and uncomplainingly carrying their own crosses.
Along the way, the complainant wanted to lighten his load, and cut short his cross. To make the story more illustrative, he must have cut his cross from 10 ft. long to 9 ft. After taking a few more steps, he again complained to the Lord. And once again, he cut down the length of his cross to 8 ft. When they reached the top of the mountain, there was a chasm between where they stood and the gates of heaven.
Each of the four other persons laid down their own crosses, which were 10 ft. or longer, and joyfully walked across to heaven on top of their crosses.
The star of the video could not. Guess how wide the chasm was? 9 ft. wide.
Yes, we all have our individual crosses to carry, some of which may appear to be heavier and longer than that of others. As there are no standard crosses, nor one size that fits all, our customized crosses are truly made for us. We are built to carry just the right weight and length that fits our character and strength. MY DEAREST FELLOW CHRISTIANS, Do I complain when my cross is too heavy for
me? Whenever the thought comes to my mind, I start
counting my blessings. I also remind myself that we couldn’t have come this far after facing so many chasms and challenges in life, unless He gave us the way… our cross. Wasn’t He always there to help us carry our
cross? Wasn’t He always our refuge, our fortress, our
strength, and our deliverer? He carried our cross for us to Calvary. He suffered and died for us. But He was victorious and conquered death. He rose on Easter Sunday. We are Easter Christians and we rejoice in our
victory. A blessed Easter to all from my family to yours.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
