Team Lakay Championship returns with 10 bouts
A RETURNING fighter and four upcoming mix martial artists try to secure a spot in One Championship.
After several years in hiatus, George Lusadan returns to active fighting as he topbills the Team Lakay Championship 10 on March 26 at the La Trinidad municipal gym.
Lusadan, fighting out of Lakay Contender Gym seeks his sixth victory as he takes on wrestler, Nico Allego of Cerberus Manila, in the fight night made part of the Strawberry Festival.
Lusadan last saw action November 2010 defeating Mark Joseph Abrillo in the Universal Reality Combat Championship with all four of Luzadan's five victories came via submission in the first round.
The co-main event of the evening will see Jon Olivar of Lakay Training Center, fresh from winning against Joseph Pasiwat in PXC Laban MMA February 27 will battle a tried and tested veteran Jonnel Borbon (D'Elements Gym Real Men).
Four fighters will also see action in a Strawweight Grand Prix hoping to earn a fight contract on Asia’s largest MMA promotion, One Championship in the main card.
Kervin Lampacan (Fist gym) will take on Roy Menzi (Kafagway MMA) while the other match – up will see Joshua Pacio ( Lakay Training center ) squaring off against Janito Bayot ( The Elements Real Men).
Winners in each fight will then advance and face off against each other in the finale with the winner getting a hefty One Championship contract.
Also in the fight cards are up and coming MMA fighters in the Cordillera taking on some of the country’s pro-am fighters.
Foreign fighter Andrea Cola of Lakay Training Center debuts against Morteza Minbashi of Iran while Jomar Pa-ac of Lakay Training Center tangles with Steve Sevilleno of D'Elements Gym Real Men.
Taro Barrientos of Lakay San Fernando gets his MMA career going as he takes on Mhel Remolar of Tribal Submission Team Torogi with Jaybee Ban-eg of Lakay Training Center squaring off against Ariel Lampacan of Sparfight Institute.
Yong Jian of Equilibrium Gym Malaysia is set to face off with Jerry Olsim of Tribal Submission-Team Torogi while the curtain raiser will feature Rafael Lim of Lakay San Fernando against Jason Mendosa of Ali Wrestling team. Roderick Osis
