LA TRINDIAD, Benguet – Funding for a nursery is needed.

Itogon oficials are asking Department of Energy Secretary Zenaida Monsada to download approved funds for the establishment of a municipal nursery.

The local council crafted the resolution requesting the DOE to release prior approved

funding by then Secretary Petilla two years ago.

Petilla issued a notice to proceed in 2014 informing the municipality the project has been approved and is ready for implementation.

A certificate of availability of funds was also signed and given to the local government unit.

The municipal nursery will be maintained by the administration as well as all purchases necessary for supplies and materials, payment of labor cost during the implementation as well as maintenances of personnel for the project.

Itogon officials have forwarded the resolution to the provincial board for its approval and comment as province aldermen has likewise endorsed the project.

The committee on Ways and Means headed by Board Member Robert Namoro finds the resolution to be of merit and reasonable and has recommended the endorsement of the request.

The municipality has led many projects which aim to protect and preserve the environment.

One of the projects was embodied in an Ordinance declaring the preservation of century old and heritage trees in the municipality.

The new law, known as the “Century Old and Heritage Tree Ordinance,” where no cutting of Century Trees will be done after it has been declared and recognized by the municipality.
