A FAMILY from Olongapo City and Tondo in Manila were chosen as the Lucky Summer Visitors (LSV) in the Summer Capital this year.

The first family chosen is couple Adrian Evalobo, 34, and Jennifer Leon, 36, with 12year old son Kenn Evalobo who left Subic at 3 am on Thursday to spend a three-day vacation in Baguio who was picked at the Victory Bus station in Sison, Pangasinan.

The first family from Olongapo City was chosen by BCBC members early Thursday, March 23,

Jennifer and Kenn were first time visitors in Baguio while Adrian have been in the city at least four times but only to accompany his cousins enrolled at the Saint Louis University and the University of Baguio.

Jennifer said she have many friends from Baguio when she was working in

Manila and even in Subic.

“I have been planning to spend a vacation in Baguio for a very long time but I never had the chance,” Jennifer said who works as an operations manager of a Korean school.

The family took the bus to Baguio with no accommodation reservations.

“I tried to arrange a reservation for a transient house referred by a friend in Mines View but was told that it was already taken and paid for,” added Leon.

Jennifer said they usually spend their vacations in Manila or Olongapo. And was very eager to visit the Strawberry Farm.

Grandparents Robert Flores, 69 and Lucina, 60, including their 7-year old granddaughter Sophia Elizabeth of Tondo, Manila were second to be picked from a Genesis Bus which left Manila at 3 am.

Lucina, an accounting professor of the Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City, said they plan to take a vacation for ten days in Baguio.

“Ngayon lang kami magbabakasyon ulit for a long time at wala naman kaming ibang option kung hindi Baguio kasi hindi pa kami nakakapunta doon,” Lucina said.

The couple was interested in visiting Asin Hot Springs which was featured through the television.

"May hot springs sa bundok, nagtaka ako saan kaya galing yun," added Lucina.

The LSV is an annual project of the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) for over five decades with the city as a prime tourist destination, said President Ramon Dacawi.

After the BCBC briefed the LSV on the project, they were convoyed to Twin Peaks Barangay in Tuba, Benguet for a simple welcome rights with a taste of local products.

The visitors posed for photos at the Lion’s Head along Kennon Road before a motorcade at Session Road followed by a courtesy call at the City Hall with Mayor Mauricio Domogan giving a historical background about Baguio.
