KINGS College of the Philippines is set to lead the Cordillera Administrative Region in the beach volleyball event of the upcoming Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Finals in Koronadal City, South Cotabato next month.

KCP, the newest members of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) is looking to uplift PRISAA-CAR’s delegation in the week-long contest scheduled April 2-10.

Pia Battateng is expected to lead the charge and will be beefed up by Irylle Gawageo, and Noreen Julian.

Meanwhile, KCP’s Mark Jones Golingab will play alongside University of Baguio’s Kurl Rosete and Noel Malaca for the men’s division.

The ladies side will be in their first national beach volleyball tournament while the Rosete and Malaca who recently topped the men’s division 2015 Baguio Beach Volley Championship will seek a good finish in the weeklong competition.

The two teams will be coached by Rodolfo Delos Reyes and Gerald Lee.

Despite being the youngest team in the BBEAL, KCP is looking for an impressive finish against 17 other regions in the competition set for tertiary schools throughout the Philippines.

KCP interim athletic director Danny Edwardo said they are optimistic of the team’s chances in PRISAA.

“We are looking forward to this competition already, we want to prove that despite being the youngest member for BBEAL the team is not really that inexperienced considering there is no permanent beach volley court here in Baguio

and Benguet,” Edwardo told Sun.Star Baguio.

Edwardo added the athletes are already in full preparation for the competition.

“The athletes and coaches will be engaged in a full training schedule until we reach the competition dates. Despite having it in a short notice we are optimistic they will be able to get their peak once they step in Koronadal,” Edwardo added.

KCP will be joined by more than 200 delegations representing PRISAA-CAR.
