CAR tops National Schools Press Conference

STUDENTS and advisers from the Cordillera Administra­tive Region (CAR) bagged awards in 6th place for elementary division and 7th for the secondary division, hailed as one of the best top performing regions during the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC)held at Pagadian City, Zamboanga Peninsula last January 22-25.

DepEd-CAR reported the region joined the different individual and group categories during the press conference.

Catherine Batayan from Fort Del Pilar Elementary School in Baguio City and Andrei Calbid from Hope Christian Academy in Benguet bagged the 1st and 7th place for the elementary level English and Filipino News Writing. Reztine Rubie

Picpican from San Vicente in Baguio City garnered first place for photo journalism.

For the group category under online Publishing in English, the students from Philippine Science High School in Baguio City garnered 7th place. For Radio Script writing and Broadcasti­ng in Filipino, the students from Pines City National High School placed 6th overall. Students from Saint Louis University Laboratory High School garnered 7th place under Radio Script Writing and Broadcasti­ng in English and students from Pines City National High School landed also 7th place under Radio Script Writing and Broadcasti­ng in Filipino. Students from Benguet National High School garnered 3rd and 7th place under TV Script Writing and Broadcasti­ng in English and Filipino Respective­ly.

Outstandin­g journalist­s are Edzel Carl Domingo from Potia Elementary School in Ifugao and Ryan Christian Morales from Baguio City National High School in Baguio City while outstandin­g school advisers are Maria Zenaida Juguilon from Bekkel Elementary School in Benguet and Ruth Ladip from Tabuk City National High School in Kalinga.

DepEd CAR reported the top five winners in all categories, mediums, and levels will be given incentives.

For individual writing contest the first place will receive P2, 500 second is P2, 000 third is P1,500, fourth is P1,000 and fifth is P700.

For group contest such as radio broadcasti­ng, collaborat­ive desktop publishing, TV scripting and broadcasti­ng, and school paper category, the students will be receiving P7,000 for first place and with P3,000 for coach; P5,500 for students who got second place and P2,500 for coach; for third place P4,000 for students and P2,000 for coach; for fourth place P2,500 for students and P1,500 for coach; for fifth place P2,000 for students; and P1,000 for coach.
