UNIVERSITY of the Cordillera­s topped the Athletics, Softball and Lawn Tennis events of the 30th BaguioBeng­uet Educationa­l Athletic League second phase held in both Baguio and Benguet this weekend.

The UC Jaguars, titleholde­rs in both men and women softball and lawn tennis while men’s athletics bagged 13-5-4 medal tally putting them on top and women earned 3-1-1 and placed third.

From UC’s 9 titles in the first phase in winning Wushu men and women, Badminton men and women, Taekwondo men and women, Table Tennis men, Judo men and Basketball men already makes them champions for this season with a total of 14 titles still more events to be decided beating the 3-time defending champs University of Baguio.

UB men athletics made 4-11-6 medal tally which made them fall to second while women got 11-6-5 that puts them in first.

The Saint Louis’ University men Navigators with 0-0-4 placed third while women gained 03-2 while the anguet State University men Wildcats got 1-2-1 while women with 4-3-3 medal tally made them second.

The Cordillera Career Developmen­t Center men Admirals’ 0-0-2 are second from last and women’s 0-3-0 were placed last and the Philippine Military Academy’s cadets’ 0-01 made them last from last while cadet women

got 0-2-7 are second from last.

UC Jaguar, Regan Contic was hailed most bemedalled trackster with his 4 golds and 1 silver. He made records of 37.03 meters in Discuss Throw, 43.45 meter Javelin Throw 22’’95, 200 meter dash run and 11’’34, 100 meter dash run. Contic’s Shotput silver record 10.36 meters beaten by UB’s Alvin Comilang whose record was 11.36.

This week is volleyball’s second week. Cardinals, Jaguars and Navigators continue to be unbeaten. Jaguars and Navigators both from bracket B are expected to clash Tuesday at SLU Gymnasium. Jean Ananayo, University of the Cordillera­s Intern
