Dela Rosa to meet Korean counterpart over Jee’s kidnap-slay case
PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa on Tuesday said he will meet Korean police officials to discuss the kidnap-slay case of businessman Jee Ickjoo in the country last October.
Dela Rosa said Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) deputy commissioner Kim Kiu Chan arrived in the country for their scheduled meeting on February 14.
"Hindi ko kayo masamahan mamaya sa inyong salu-salo because I have to receive the police commissioner of the Korean National Police," he said.
"This is an offshoot ng kawalang disiplina at katarantaduhan ng ating kasamahan…I have to meet them, maybe to appease them and explain to them what happened," Dela Rosa added.
Earlier, KNPA director Lee Chul-sung appealed to Dela Rosa for a “fair and swift” resolution of Jee’s case.
Jee, an owner of a manpower agency, was abducted on October 18, 2016 from his house in Friendship Plaza Village in Angeles City, Pampanga by police officers from the PNP-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).
He was then brought to Camp Crame where he was strangled to death, allegedly by Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Ricky Sta. Isabel, one of the primary suspects in the case.
Other policemen allegedly involved in the crime were Superintendent Rafael Dumlao III, a team leader at the PNPAIDG, and Senior Police Officer 4 Roy Villegas.
Meanwhile, Dela Rosa said he forwarded to the Office of the President a letter of request by Jee’s family indicating their preference to let the PNP conduct their investigation alone.
“Ayoko nga sana dahil baka ma-misinterpret, baka sabihin n a iniimpluwensyahan natin sila. But that was out of their own volition, nirequest nila,” he said. SUNNEX
