Colder Baguio expected as mercury dips anew

WITH THE continued drop of temperature in the Summer Capital, businesses continue to thrive as tourists and even residents, look for ways to warm the selves.

Food establishments along Governor Pack Road reported to have brisk sales of bulalo, lugaw, and mami while ukay – ukay vendors sees higher demands for jackets, bonnets, gloves and muffler.

"Masarap tong bulalo dito panlaban sa lamig," student Mary Jane said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAG-ASA) recorded the lowest

temperature Wednesday morning in the city this year which has dipped to 7.3 degree Celsius.

Efren Dalipog, weather observer of PAG-ASA Baguio said there is a possibility the city will still experience colder temperature the following days.

In nearby Mount Sto. Tomas in Tuba, Benguet, PAG – ASA recorded a temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius at six in the morning while other areas in La Trinidad recorded six degrees Celsius.

PAG-ASA added the Cordillera region is also expecting cloudy skies due to the northeast monsoon affecting the country.

The coldest temperature recorded in Baguio City by PAGASA was in January 18, 1961 which is 6.3 degree Celsius.

As the cold temperature continue to grip the region, the Department of Health has reminded the public to keep themselves warm during the cold season.

The public is also advised to wear their jackets and other materials that will protect them from the effects of the cool weather.

DOH also urged the public to eat fruits and vegetables to boost their immune system to avoid catching cough and colds, in influenza like illnesses, skin diseases as well as asthma.

The health office in the region also advised tourists to bring their jackets and protections against the cold weather when visiting the city. Those with heart problems are advised to condition their bodies before travelling in the city to avoid attacks and health problems.
