NAPOLCOM public assistance unit opens

-

TO EXPEDITE response to any call for immediate assistance for or against members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) approved the creation of its Public Assistance Unit (PAU) under the Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMIS)

This was announced by NAPOLCOM ViceChairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao following the issuance of Special Order No. 2017-001 to fully operationalize the Unit.

The PAU, which has been operational since February 3 renders duty on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week.

“The PAU was created to monitor and investigate police anomalies and irregularities in line with the Commission’s thrust to attend more promptly and act expeditiously on all complaints emanating from all multi-media platforms,” Casurao said.

Casurao added the PAU is tasked to receive calls involving police anomalies and irregularities and take appropriate actions as necessary and dispatch IMIS personnel to monitor, validate and investigate legitimate reports/complaints within 24 hours from receipt thereof.

The NAPOLCOM official added a complaint lodged before the unit or information received and gathered will be evaluated whether it requires immediate dispatch of personnel to thwart any irregularity.

All reports will be considered legitimate based on the following: the person complained of must be a member of the PNP; the acts complained of would constitute as a violation of the law and can be substantiated based on evidence.

“The Commission is at the forefront of its campaign in professionalizing the PNP. If the police become more aware that the NAPOLCOM is discharging its constitutional and statutory mandates, disciplined members within the ranks will increase. Eventually, time will come that within themselves, self-discipline will prevail; thus, serving the community better in the pursuit of justice, peace and security,” Casurao said.

The NAPOLCOM Public Assistance Unit is located at the Ground Floor, DILGNAPOLCOM Center, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, West Triangle, Quezon City with telephone numbers 8902143; 890-2535 and 899-8088.
