Lang-ay trail run set April

IN THE hopes of raising funds for the Mountain Province Red Cross Chapter, Team Malaya is organizing a three-category trail run to be held from Tadian, Bauko to Sagada on April 9.

The event will see runners competing

in the 42 kilometer category with registrati­on at P2,500; the 21 km with P1,500 registrati­on and the short-distance 10k run which is open for registrati­on at P750.

Runners will traverse foot paths along the boundaries of the three municipali­ties and will pass through the forests and riversides with the challenge of different weather in each routes while enjoying the scenic views

Registrati­on fee is inclusive of race bibs, trail snacks, finisher’s t-shirts, Red Cross membership­s and post-race medals.

Cut off time for the 42km run is 12 hours with multi-stage cutoffs for organizers to check on the safety of the runners while the 21km marathon is eight hours.

Organizers advised runners to bring their own hydration gears, head lamps and other necessary equipment such as sun blocks, visors and others.

The 42k run will start at the Tadian Municipal Hall while the 21km category begins in Abatan, Bauko. All races ends in Sagada.

A 10 kilometer event will also be held which starts and ends in Sagada.

Organizers said the run is for the humanitari­an activities of the provinces’ Red Cross to enhance their capability to provide assistance to the community especially in establishi­ng stable, self-sufficient blood bank and to raise awareness, sports tourism and physical fitness through the sport of trail running.
